After months of devastation due to the Waterstones shop closing in the nearest shopping centre to my town, the Metrocentre, a smaller one finally reopened there, so of course I had to go in. A table caught my eye with large books with beautiful covers on it so I went over to look. It had many classics like a Charles Dickens collection and an Oscar Wilde Collection. Then I spotted this beauty, 'The Complete Sherlock Holmes', and I just knew I had to have it. I haven't read any of the Sherlock Holmes stories yet so finding this was a dream. It features four full length novels and 56 short stories. I picked it up for £20, which I know seems quite steep, but for the amount you get all in one book with a box cover as well, it's definitely worth it.
The cover features a take on the classic deerstalker hat pattern which is an infamous trait of Sherlock Holmes'. I think it's perfectly fitting because it's a pattern which is usually associated with the character due to the hat.
There's a picture of the author, Arthur Conan Doyle featured on the first page, as well as a forward by author Daniel Stashower as an introduction to the book.
I cannot wait to start this gem! :) - Alanah
