Just A Small Update

I'm sorry that i've been really inactive at posting. Since January, i've had a couple of big things to prepare for which required my time and concentration more. The first being my schools production of Sunshine On Leith at the beginning of February. It was a fun show but a lot of rehearsing had to be put into it to achieve the amazing result we did. I've also been organising everything I need for my upcoming trip to Italy in a week. This trip has required a lot of preparation too and alongside the musical, I haven't had much time to blog. I hope you understand. I plan on getting back into the swing of things now and I look forward to posting my latest book review here and my holiday pictures, which you'll be able to check out on my travel blog www.sailoralanahtravel.blogspot.co.uk/, so watch that page.

Waterstones Find

After months of devastation due to the Waterstones shop closing in the nearest shopping centre to my town, the Metrocentre, a smaller one finally reopened there, so of course I had to go in. A table caught my eye with large books with beautiful covers on it so I went over to look. It had many classics like a Charles Dickens collection and an Oscar Wilde Collection. Then I spotted this beauty, 'The Complete Sherlock Holmes', and I just knew I had to have it. I haven't read any of the Sherlock Holmes stories yet so finding this was a dream. It features four full length novels and 56 short stories. I picked it up for £20, which I know seems quite steep, but for the amount you get all in one book with a box cover as well, it's definitely worth it.

The cover features a take on the classic deerstalker hat pattern which is an infamous trait of Sherlock Holmes'. I think it's perfectly fitting because it's a pattern which is usually associated with the character due to the hat.

There's a picture of the author, Arthur Conan Doyle featured on the first page, as well as a forward by author Daniel Stashower as an introduction to the book.

I cannot wait to start this gem! :) - Alanah

Introduction

Introduction

Books have always been one of the biggest things in my life. My mum would read to me and my brother every night, the books ranging from classics like Mary Poppins and Alice in Wonderland, to well known stories like Harry Potter, to The Rainbow Fairies books that every little girl seemed to read. To me, books are a way to broaden my imagination, help my creative juices flow and let me escape to far off lands for a few hours. Books are one of the greatest things in the world.

I've planned to dedicate this blog to all about books, book reviews, monthly book recommendations, exciting finds and series recommendations/reviews. Lets spread the joy of books together.
